Dear Mr. Brown’s Writing Class,

Ce mai faceţi? (How are you all?) In Romania we have differnt cultures. We have romanians, hungarians, rroma, armenians, saxons (germans), turkish, and russians. Strigoi means a person that has died, or has been killed, and their souls can’t move on and they hunt people who did wrong to them during their life. We are 11-13 years old. We like to jumping, playing football, playing volleyball, playing computer games, playing with dolls, singing, drawing, dancing, listening to music and sleeping in our free time. Yes we have homework. We have winter, summer, spring, and autum here. In winter it can get as cold as -38C (-31F) and in summer it can be as hot as 40C (104F).

We also have some questions for you:Do strigoi exist in America? What are your grades for school? What music do you listen to? What are your names? How old are you? Do you have brothers and sisters? Do you like football (soccer)? Who is the best student in your class? What grade are you in?

We are making a blog of our e-mails that we would like to share with you. We will post some videos of our talents. The blog address is: http://teliugeneralschool5a.blogspot.com/

Goodbye,
Class 5A, Courtney and Ms. Baias

Dear Ms. Brown’s class,

Hello (Buna). We are Mr. Brown’s morning writing class. We go to school in Hebron, Kentucky. Our school is North Pointe Elementary. Over 1,000 kids go to our school. In school we learn math, reading, writing, science, social studies, language arts, gym, music, library, technology 1 and 2, and we enjoy recess after lunch for about 15 minutes. Some of our favorite foods for school lunch are pizza, and chicken fingers. We have some questions we would like to ask you. Are there different races and cultures within Romania? Have you ever heard of the wolf man called Strigoi? If so what does this word “strigoi” mean? How old are you all? What are some of your favorite things to do outside of school? Do you have homework after school? What kind of seasons do you all have throughout the year? How cold does it get during the winter? How hot does it get during your summer?

We hope you enjoy your day,
Mr. Brown’s writing class.

Dear Mr. Brown’s Class,

Bună (Hello). We are class 5A from Teliu, Romania. We learn English at school. We also learn math, Romanian, history, geography, biology, technology, French, sport, religion, choir, art, and music. Our school’s name is Teliu General School. We are 16 children—9 girls and 7 boys. We like math and pausă (the break in between classes). Our break is 10 minutes. How long is your break? One Romanian food is sarmale with mămăligă. Sarmale is made from meat, cabbage, rice, salt, and pepper. Mămăligă is made from cornmeal, boiled in water with salt. We eat mămăligă with cheese, sour cream, and meat. In Romanian “Noapte bună” means “Good night”.

Cu drag,
Class 5A
